REELcomp partners with ALLY Distribution for weekly full length videos
“Ally Nights” to take place every Sunday evening with a new snowboard video shown in full and on demand for a limited time.

REELcomp, the premier destination to upload original board sport footage to share and compete in online contests, announced today that they are partnering with ALLY Distribution to present “ALLY NIGHTS”.

ALLY NIGHTS will be a weekly showing of one snowboard video in full on REELcomp.com. Each week a new video will be available on-demand for a limited amount of time giving visitors flexibility when to watch the complete video. A complete schedule, bulletin and ALLY’s new download widget are all available on their PRODUCTION page on REELcomp.com.

Saturday night was awesome!  Porterstahoe.com and Burton premiered Burton’s new movie “It’s Always Snowing Somewhere” at Club Underground in Reno, NV.  First off, let me say that the movie is really good.  They’ve got tons of bangers from all of Burton’s heavy-hitters including Jussi Oksanen, Heikki Sorsa, Nicolas Muller, Shaun White, and everyone else!  The night started off with an All-Ages showing of the movie with an autograph session after.  After the kiddies cleared out, the bar opened for the 21+ crowd and Hunks of Metal took the stage.  Hunks of Metal consists of the OG Snowboarders Shawn Farmer, Bob Klein, Terry Kidwell and friends.  They’ve got some good tracks and surprised the crowd for sure!  After Hunks of Metal came the band Cohesion which features Porters employee Josh Hall who KILLED it on the lead guitar.  That kid has definitely got some skills!  After Cohesion, Burton riders Danny Davis(FRENDS), Mason Aguirre(FRENDS), Kelly Clark, Jussi Oksanen and Heikki Sorsa introduced the movie.  As the lights dimmed the crowd cheered in anticipation.  Hoots and hollers filled the room for most of the movie and definitely got everyone stoked for the snow to fall!  As soon as the movie credit rolled, the Supersuckers came out and started rocking.  The place went nuts as the music pumped and beer started flying.  It was a great time and a big thanks goes out to Chappy and Kasey from Porters and Trevor from Burton!  See ya next year!

Is it snowing yet? Is your local mountain open yet to shred? Neither of these things matter because the Rome SDS is bringing some early-season jib fun to your local mountain for the 5th Annual running of the Premature Jibulation event series.

Created for your everyday local riders who are dying to get on snow, Premature Jibulation events go down all across North America and Europe through November and December. In many parts of the world, this is the first chance riders have to shred each year. Featuring a jam-session format that is as much about having fun as it is about winning, each event will be littered with rails, boxes, barrels and any other junk we can find that looks fun to ride. There is no entry fee and the events are open to all riders who want to come out and shred. (Though there is no entry fee charged by Rome, each host mountain might require an early season lift ticket purchase.)

So pull your gear out of the closet, mount up your bindings, pray for snow and be ready to lay down the first session of the season with the SDS. Prizes include Rome boards, bindings, boots and outerwear, and there is a ton of other schwag for the product toss.

Well I was able to make it out for opening day at A Basin. I was surprised to see that there was not a terrible lift line when I got there at about 1 PM. I took a few runs down the white ribbon of death and called it a day and went to happy hour at Jersey Boys. It was a nice day to kick off the season and I am looking forward for the rest of the openings throughout the county over the next few weeks. See you all there.

The PRODUCTION section on REELcomp is definitely starting to catch some attention. For those of you who haven’t noticed PRODUCTION is designed to allow amateur filmers, riders and Production Crews to customize their own site on the REELcomp platform. Once approved through a simple app. process members are allowed access to the back-end of their profile allowing them to change the “css” coding to completely customize their own site. Congrats to Michaelp on winning the first qualifying round for skateboarding. Michaelp has won himself $500 cash and a spot on the final bracket! There was some great entries this first period and the competition was def. pretty intense but it all boiled down his video called “Michael Patterson- Garfield” that took it home. Here check it out:

That is right A-Basin has started making snow for the 08-09 season in hope of being the first resort to open in North America. Sunday night the temperature was low enough for all 18 snow guns layed out from midway to the base area to run until 8 A.M. Monday morning. A-basin and Loveland ski area have a friendly competition every year to see who can be the first resort to open. A-Basin has held the title for the past two years.
