Take the Lake Slopestlye Event and Spring Break Festival at Alpine Meadows

Skiers and riders will find seven days of spring break glory at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort from March 22-28, 2010. Take the Lake is a first-of-a-kind weeklong spring getaway centered on a premier ski and snowboard slope-style competition, complete with discounted lift tickets, activities, prizes and much more. Take the Lake goers can choose from unprecedented rates on all-inclusive vacation packages; opt to be part of the slopestyle competition action; or just enjoy the live music, slope side activities throughout the week, non-stop nightlife, and famous California spring sunshine.

A.M. Open slopestyle competition – $20,000 to be won
In addition to Take the Lake, partiers and spectators looking for an unbeatable spring break, Alpine Meadows will host some of skiing and snowboarding’s top-shelf athletes as they come to Lake Tahoe to impress a team of the industry’s best judges in the A.M. Open. Qualifying rounds are set for Thursday, March 25 and will feature The Shreadows world-famous jumps and rail lines as competitors vie for a position for the championship round set for Saturday, March 27. With a $20,000 collective cash purse on the line, talent is poised to engulf Alpine Meadows from all corners of the country.

Snowboard legend Marc Frank Montoya will scratch the turntable for the DJ house party at the Alpine Meadows base lodge Friday night, March 26 – and he’ll be right back on the mic Saturday, March 27 to emcee the A.M. Open slopestyle finals.

X Games and Dew Tour veterans line the judging panel
and some of action sports’ most in-demand pro judges will give the nod to top competitors. Among them include Dew Tour and Winter X Games veteran judges Shawn Carney and Tom Zikas; and former Winter X Games skier Evan Raps. Carney and Zikas have traveled the globe in search of the perfect air or cab 900; and Raps knows what it takes to pull off a flawless switch nosegrab 1080. Those with the right mix of trick execution, amplitude, fluidity, and difficulty will qualify for the Saturday championship rounds for a shot at the cash and the podium.

I SKINDOG, am very excited to be apart of this new online community platform, where the up and coming young guns, along with unknown heroes can show case their photos and videos along side with the super pros, with out the manipulation of the goals of the big advertising dollars. This is the future of online media. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life. Being able to run contests for the people by the people is just amazing. I can’t wait to see what kids come out of left field and puts their name on the world of shred. I believe this will be a platform for the youth to launch their careers. We will also see unsung Heroes waving their flag and letting the world know they still have some mojo left in them. So put on your seat belts kids, because things are gonna get wild. 2010 Women’s Snowboard Contest – Press Release

Virtual video contest to showcase talent in the women’s snowboard industry

REELcomp and DC Shoes have announced today a one of a kind snowboard contest for women’s snowboarding. REELcomp will host and DC will sponsor a contest starting on January 12th 2010. Women over 18 years of age will be able to submit their original footage to the REELcomp competition platform for a period of five weeks. A one day voting period will follow with the winner announced on Feb 17th. The winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to the infamous DC Mountain Lab in Park City Utah.

“We are excited to host this prestigious women’s competition on the REELcomp website” said Bob Witty, REELcomp CEO. “Its an honor to work with a company like DC on our first competition of 2010, and we look forward to hosting many successful contests for all our sports communities this year”.

Maverick’s Steep and Deep Surf Contest Hosted by SKINDOG

The Mavericks “STEEP N DEEP” contest is as simple as the wave itself. Mavericks is the biggest, baddest, paddle wave in the world. The crew that charge year after year have one goal: to get the best drop of their lives, and the steeper n deeper, the better. Me and my boys have this contest amongst ourselves every year. And now we are inviting you to join us. The rules are easy, the best drop where the rider is in the deepest take off spot and the steepest position of the face. Oh ya he has to pull it off, at least make it to the bottom before he is blown up. So any Mavericks wave from Oct 2009 to March 30th 2010 with a rider pushing it to the steep n deep level is a candidate to win. As of now we have $1000.00 out of our own pocket for 1st. But we are hoping we can get some sponsors to help add on and make this a Huge Event. There is no doubt we will see the level of big wave paddle surfing pushed up a few knotches! I know i”ll be chucking myself over a few suicide ledges just for you all, let’s just hope I make it.
